Description
Yellow Mold is a subterranean fungus found in underground locations. Its brilliant yellow color is its only warning. Any contact causes acid damage, and rough handling releases a lethal cloud of spores.
Special Abilities
Acid on Contact: Touching Yellow Mold deals 1d6 damage to exposed skin.
Spore Cloud: Any rough contact with Yellow Mold (striking it, falling on it, opening a door covered with it) has a 50% chance of releasing an asphyxiating spore cloud filling a 10 ft × 10 ft area. Any creature in the area must save vs. poison or die.
Killed by Fire Only: Only fire destroys Yellow Mold reliably. Weapons have no effect. Lightning has no effect. Cold has no effect.
Tactics / Encounter / Notes
Yellow Mold is a trap-like hazard, not a combat monster. It grows on doors, floors, and walls. Smart parties will torch any patch they find before proceeding. Never strike it with a weapon.
Treasure
Yellow Mold carries no treasure.
