Description
The Black Pudding is one of the most feared dungeon hazards — a vast mass of black, corrosive goo that travels on ceilings as easily as floors. It dissolves metal armor and weapons on contact and is unharmed by cold.
Special Abilities
Dissolves Metal: Any metal item that contacts the Pudding (including armor worn by struck characters) begins dissolving. Metal armor is destroyed after being struck.
Acid Damage: 3d6 damage per round to exposed flesh.
Cold Immunity: Cold damage does not affect the Black Pudding.
Splits on Chop/Lightning: Chopping weapons and lightning split the Pudding into smaller puddings rather than harming it.
Killed by Fire: Fire damage kills the Black Pudding normally.
Ceiling Travel: The Pudding can move along ceilings and walls, dropping onto prey from above.
Passes Through Small Openings: The Pudding can squeeze through any opening it can flow through.
Tactics / Encounter / Notes
Never attack a Black Pudding with swords, axes, or lightning. Use fire. If caught beneath one dropping from a ceiling, armor offers little protection as it will be dissolved within rounds.
Black Puddings have no lair.
Treasure
Black Puddings carry no treasure (it has dissolved everything).
