Description
Ghouls are undead creatures that feed on corpses. They are cunning enough to set ambushes and hunt in packs. Their flesh is cold and their eyes are blank white.
Special Abilities
Paralysis: Any creature struck by a Ghoul must save vs. paralysis or be frozen in place for 1d6 turns. Elves are immune to this effect.
Subject to Missiles: Unlike some undead, Ghouls can be harmed by normal missile fire.
Create Ghouls: Any human killed by a Ghoul will rise as a Ghoul themselves unless the body is burned or a Cleric performs proper funerary rites.
Turn Undead: A Cleric may attempt to turn Ghouls normally.
Tactics / Encounter / Notes
Ghouls hunt in packs, swarming prey to trigger multiple paralysis saves. Once a victim is paralyzed, the ghouls will feed. They avoid light and large groups.
20% chance the encounter is at their lair.
Treasure
Ghoul lairs contain the possessions of their victims. Lair contains Type B treasure.
