Description
Nixies are beautiful water sprites who dwell in rivers, lakes, and pools. They appear as small humans with green-tinted skin and webbed fingers. They are playful but dangerous, luring mortals beneath the water to serve them.
Special Abilities
Charm Person: Any creature that comes within 30 ft of a Nixie lair must save vs. magic or be Charmed. A charmed character will follow the Nixie underwater and serve for one year. The Nixie can use this once per any creature entering the area.
Fish Guardians: Nixie lairs are guarded by a school of 10–100 fierce fish. These fight as piranha-like creatures and will attack any creature that harms a Nixie.
Armed: Nixies carry daggers and javelins despite their small size.
Tactics / Encounter / Notes
Nixies do not generally wish to harm visitors — they want servants. Once a charmed character has completed their year of service, the charm ends and they are free to go (though they may not remember the experience clearly). A Remove Curse or Dispel Magic cast on a charmed character ends the effect immediately.
100% chance the encounter is at their lair (underwater cave or pool).
Treasure
Nixie lairs contain Type B treasure — accumulated gifts and valuables from charmed servants.
