Description
Gargoyles are semi-intelligent reptilian creatures with horns, talons, and bat wings. When motionless, they are nearly indistinguishable from stone decorations. They lurk on the ledges of ruins, dungeons, and ancient fortresses.
Special Abilities
Magical Weapon Required: Only magical weapons can harm a Gargoyle. Normal weapons, however sharp, simply do not wound them.
Multiple Attacks: A Gargoyle attacks with both claws, its bite, and its horn simultaneously.
Tactics / Encounter / Notes
Gargoyles are hostile 75% of the time without provocation. They attack by surprise from above, dropping onto prey. They are semi-intelligent — enough to recognize magic users and clerics as priority targets. They do not pursue far from their lair.
25% chance the encounter is at their lair.
Treasure
Gargoyle lairs contain Type C treasure.
