Description

Wights are undead creatures that retain a hideous parody of their former appearance. Their eyes glow with cold malevolence. They dwell in barrows, crypts, and ancient ruins.

Special Abilities

Energy Drain: Each successful hit by a Wight permanently drains 1 experience level from the target. Lost levels reduce the character's hit dice, attack bonus, and saving throws accordingly.

Weapon Immunity: Wights can only be harmed by silver weapons or magical weapons. Normal weapons pass through them harmlessly. Magic arrows deal normal damage; silver-tipped arrows deal normal damage.

Create Wights: Any human killed by a Wight rises as a Wight under the original Wight's control.

Turn Undead: A Cleric may attempt to turn Wights normally.

Tactics / Encounter / Notes

Wights pursue relentlessly. They are drawn to the living and will track intruders through their barrow. The level drain is permanent without magical restoration — wise adventurers avoid melee contact.

60% chance the encounter is at their lair.
