Description
The Ochre Jelly is a massive, yellow-brown amoeboid creature that oozes through dungeon passages. It is essentially an enormous stomach — it dissolves wood, flesh, and most organic material. It can seep through small cracks.
Special Abilities
Acid Damage: The Jelly deals 1d6 acid damage per round to any creature it engulfs or touches.
Dissolves Wood: The Ochre Jelly dissolves wood on contact — doors, ladder rungs, weapon hafts, wooden shields.
Splits on Weapon/Lightning Damage: Strikes from weapons (including magical weapons) or lightning do not kill an Ochre Jelly — they split it into two smaller jellies, each with half the hit points.
Killed by Fire or Cold: Fire and cold damage kill the Ochre Jelly normally.
Seeps Through Cracks: The Jelly can pass through any crack or gap large enough for liquid to flow.
Tactics / Encounter / Notes
Ochre Jellies are mindless and simply move toward living creatures by scent. They climb walls and ceilings. The standard tactic of attacking with weapons is counterproductive — use fire.
Ochre Jellies have no lair.
Treasure
Ochre Jellies carry no treasure.
