Description
Gnomes are small, industrious humanoids similar to Dwarves but smaller and more reclusive. They dwell in burrows in rolling hills and lowlands. They are not often encountered by surface folk — they prefer to remain unseen.
Special Abilities
Similar to Dwarves: Gnomes share the Dwarf's general abilities — tough, hardy underground fighters with knowledge of stonework and traps. Clumsy large monsters (Ogres, Giants) score half hit points against Gnomes, as against Dwarves.
Darkvision: Gnomes see in the dark up to 60 ft.
Tactics / Encounter / Notes
Gnomes are not aggressive. They defend their burrows fiercely but will not pursue attackers far from home. They are skilled craftsmen and may trade knowledge or goods for safe passage.
60% chance the encounter is at their lair.
Treasure
Gnome lairs contain Type C treasure.
