Description
The Hippogriff has the forequarters of a great eagle or griffon (beak, talons, wings) and the hindquarters of a horse. They are fierce fighters and do not run with herds — each is solitary or paired.
Special Abilities
Flight: Hippogriffs fly at 360 ft — exceptionally fast.
Enmity with Pegasi: Hippogriffs will attack Pegasi on sight and fight to the death. The two cannot be kept within sight of each other.
Trainable: Like griffons, a Hippogriff can be trained as a mount if taken young. It is less valuable than a Griffon but more manageable.
Tactics / Encounter / Notes
Hippogriffs attack aggressively near their nesting territory. They strike with both rear hooves and their powerful beak. They will pursue prey for considerable distances.
Hippogriffs have no lair entry.
